This is the second review I've written about Birchington Surgery as it's the second time they have gone above and beyond in looking out for the well being of my mother who has recently been taken into residential care locally....bearing in mind the five doctors, the "over 75 nursing team" and the administrators look after hundreds of little old ladies and little old men in the Birchington area this is how good they are.... ..I got a text from my mother on Thursday saying her blood pressure was high as they'd taken it at the home...I emailed the surgery Thursday night advising them of this. Mum's notes were updated and NEXT MORNING lovely Leigh the nurse appeared at Mum's door ready to check her Blood Pressure... I think that is fantastic..so thanks to all at Birchington Surgery ...keep up the good work and ..most importantly...Illegitimi non carborundum !

When we registered in January this year, without exception everybody we asked recommended somewhere else. Most shook their heads and suggested we change straight away! Well just as well we believe what we see and make up our own minds. We are delighted with every aspect we have encountered, from reception(both in person and on the phone) ,to the nurses and the doctors. We used to be able to get same day appointments at our previous doctor, but realistically that was not normal. We support urgent cases being seen quickly with more routine visits taking a while . It has always been easier to moan than praise, but credit where it's due. David Dawkins

Service provided by reception and nursing staff during several recent visits has been nothing short of exemplary. Many thanks from a Leap Year pensioner who wishes to acknowledge the unbeatable care he has received. With thanks. Brian Potter

I have received a call from my Doctor requesting me to call back. Having been seen last evening by the GP I am somewhat concerned about the call and why he wanted to speak with me. I called and was immediately put on hold and informed by automated message that I was first in the queue to be answered. I waited 21 minutes to be answered !!!!

I am very sorry to hear of your frustration with waiting for your call to be answered. This isn't the level of service we aim to provide to our patients. We do have occasional problems with our phone system, and any feedback concerning this is very helpful to us. If you can provide further details e.g. the telephone number you called into the surgery from, I can track the call and identify what the problem was. Please send any additional information to birchingtonmcpm@nhs.net.

I'm aware that your staff often come in for criticism on social media, something I follow but never comment on or post to, so I'd like to ask you to pass on to your staff some praise. I phoned the surgery at 11.45am yesterday, Wednesday 15 February, and spoke to a very polite and helpful receptionist. Having explained that I have asthma and that I've caught a cough and was having difficulty breathing, I was given an appointment for 3.15pm. I was impressed that she responded so positively and understood the need for speed. I've been in the unfortunate situation of needing to be taken to hospital by ambulance because I couldn't get seen by a GP. I was seen by Barbara, and again I can only praise her for her approach to problems, and I have the medication I need to get me well again. I would add that since we've moved here, both my husband and I have received much better primary care than we ever received at the surgery we attended in the Midlands. For both of us, we've had some long-term health problems resolved by the clinical staff at BMC and we've found all the staff we've encountered to be friendly, helpful and effective, so praise all round.
